Why you should never give up on your dreams.

Updated: Oct 20, 2020

Do you remember when you are a child you're always asked at your school or even at your home, your family on what you wanted to be when you grew up? As a child, you probably just went with your dreams and passions; not thinking about the logistics of getting there. You’re proud and you may be said you want to be a doctor, to help the sick man/woman, a fireman, to kill the fire, a teacher to help the poor children go to school.

Sadly, along the way, as we grow, most adults don’t pursue their childhood dreams. We have other things to worry about – student expenses, projects, passing exams, creating an impressive enough resume to land the job. And now you are married, having a child, quit on the job you loved, and now your life was stuck. Yes, it’s not as easy as it seemed back when you were a carefree little kid, but is that a good enough reason to give up? Maybe your dreams now are different from what they were back then, but are you chasing them? . Let me give you some reasons why you should never give up on your dreams.

1.Learn from your mistakes/failures.

Fear of mistakes/failure is one of the biggest factors holding thousands of people around the world back from pursuing their dreams. But this can be more beneficial to you than you may realize. In fact, your approach to this can be everything, instead, reverse it rather from having fear from it – learn from it, and you’re far more likely to succeed in the future. Consider some famous entrepreneurs – they’ve all had to deal with failure at some point. Bill Gates, the world-famous Microsoft founder, probably felt like a failure when he dropped out of college – but look at him now!. If we will base our success on negative thought we could never go forward because we keep on bothering ourselves with unnecessary thoughts. Focused on things that will make us move forward.

2.Small Successes

Big dreams don’t come true overnight – often, they’re the result of several small successes along the way. Yes, it may take you some time, effort, and lots of determination to reach your life goals, but even if your progress is slow, it’s better than no progress at all. Look at Steve from Verellenhc – he overcame a childhood plagued by bullies and anxiety to finally follow his passions and set up a business doing what he loves. It wasn’t easy, but he was determined to succeed, and eventually made it to where he wanted to be. Now, he even employs one of the people who used to bully him as a child. Success is the sum of all small efforts, repeated day in and day out. Be thankful for all the struggles you go through. They make you stronger, wiser, and humble. Do not let it break you. Let it make you.

3.Motivate Others

Never giving up on your dreams isn’t just beneficial for you. It can also help to motivate those around you who you care about the most. There more people who are many more problems that you are facing. Maybe not enough money, or even not even a degree holder or a college graduate. Your determination to get to where you want to be in life is a good start to motivate yourself. Like what Keren Cajes-Ame of FVA - West Mindanao, is a high school graduate who is now coaching courses under the FVA Academy. she said “BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, HAVE SOMEONE BELIEVE IN YOU and be DETERMINED during this process”. No matter how many who have negative opinions around you, one person is enough to brighten up your day. Your turn to push yourself, because still, you are the one who is going to do it. Dream it, Plan it, Work it, and Make it happen.

4.Enjoy the Journey

We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling, don’t overlook it. Chasing your dreams isn’t just about the end goal. In fact, the pursuit can be a wonderful experience. Along the way, you’ll make memories, to people, make friends and learn new things that you may never have had the opportunity to do otherwise remember that in the end, it’s your life, so make the best one for yourself. Life is a journey, not a race, so enjoy. Life is like a camera. Focus on what’s important. Capture the good times. And if things don’t work out, just take another shot – Ziad K. Abdelnour
